A ball that is softly hit, just out of the infield, but so shallow that the outfielders can’t get to it. It just falls between everyone.

A ball hit over an infielder’s head and lands before an outfielder can get to it is a blooper.
BY cscottri on August 8th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
It is a hit ball that drops just in front of the outfielder and behind the infielder trying to catch it. It is not a solid hit and is just “blooped” over the head of the infielder and just in front of the outfielder. Thus, it is called a “blooper.”
